Remove the radio from the dashboard. On the side or bottom of the unit you will find a sticker with the serial in the format NI667SM0474796. Enter the full serial including the leading NI.
On some Nissan models (Micra K12, Note E11, Almera N16) you can retrieve the serial by holding presets 1 and 6 simultaneously for 5 seconds. The serial will scroll across the display.
Any Nissan dealer can look up the code from the VIN number, usually at no charge if you are the registered owner and can show ID and the vehicle log book.

WAIT means the anti-theft system has triggered after too many wrong attempts. Leave the ignition in the ACC (accessory) position for 1 hour without switching off. After the hour, the radio will accept another attempt.
Switch on the radio. When CODE appears, use the numbered preset buttons to enter each digit. On most Nissan units you press button 1 repeatedly to cycle through digits for position 1, then button 2 for position 2, and so on. Press the AUDIO button or the last preset to confirm.
Some Nissan models were fitted with Clarion, Pioneer or Blaupunkt units. If your serial doesn't start with NI, check the radio brand on the front panel and use the main calculator with the correct brand selected.
The Qashqai J10 uses a double-DIN Clarion head unit. Remove the radio (two DIN extraction keys needed) and check the top or right side of the unit for the white serial label.
