Get Your Radio Code

Select a series above to see the required format

Alfa Romeo / Lancia serials start with AR (e.g. AR670WA8078340). The sticker is on the side or top of the radio chassis — remove the unit from the dashboard to read it. The serial is also sometimes printed on a card in the vehicle documents.

How to Find Your Alfa Romeo Radio Serial

Method 1 — Radio chassis sticker

Remove the radio from the dashboard. Alfa Romeo and Lancia use DIN-sized slots — use flat release tools (not DIN keys) on most models. The serial sticker on the chassis begins with AR followed by a 3-digit model code and alphanumeric serial.

Method 2 — Vehicle documents

The original radio code card was included in the vehicle handover documents. Check the service book, glovebox compartment, or the folder with the vehicle documents supplied when the car was new.

Method 3 — Alfa Romeo dealer

Alfa Romeo and Lancia dealerships can retrieve the radio code using your VIN from the manufacturer's database, usually at no charge for the registered owner.

Alfa Romeo fitted Blaupunkt and Becker OEM radios across the range. Despite the different brand name on the faceplate, all units share the AR serial prefix in this database.

FAQ

My Alfa 156 radio shows a blinking dash — what does that mean?

A blinking dash means the radio is waiting for the unlock code. Enter your 4-digit code using the preset station buttons (1–4). Press SCAN or the tuning button to confirm after entering all four digits.

The Alfa 147 radio says "dEFEnd" — is this the same as CODE?

"dEFEnd" is an older Blaupunkt display indicating the radio is locked. It is equivalent to CODE mode. Enter the 4-digit code using the preset buttons to unlock.

Does this cover Lancia as well as Alfa Romeo?

Yes. Lancia vehicles from the same era used the same Blaupunkt/Becker OEM radios with the AR prefix serial, and they are covered by this database.

I tried 3 wrong codes and now the radio is locked for 1 hour — what should I do?

Leave the ignition in ACC for exactly one hour. The radio will reset and show the code prompt again. Do not turn the ignition off during this period.
