Get Your Radio Code

Select a series above to see the required format

Grundig / Siemens VDO serials start with FA or FB (e.g. FA0925S1000012). The sticker is on the side of the radio chassis — you may need to slide the unit out of the dashboard to read it.

How to Find Your Grundig Radio Serial

Method 1 — Radio chassis sticker

Remove the radio from the dashboard using flat release tools or DIN keys. On the side or top of the unit you will find a white sticker with the serial in the format FA0925S1000012 or FB0925S1000012. Enter the full serial including the leading FA or FB.

Method 2 — Security card

When the radio was new, a small security card was included in the vehicle documents with the radio code pre-printed. Check your glovebox, service book pocket, or vehicle handover paperwork.

Method 3 — Original manufacturer

For Ford vehicles, Ford customer support can look up the code using your VIN. For Renault and Peugeot, dealerships have access to the same database.

Siemens VDO manufactured radios for Ford, Renault, Peugeot, and Citroën under the Grundig brand name between 1990 and 2005. All units use the same FA/FB serial format regardless of which car they were fitted to.

FAQ

My serial starts with FC or FD — will it work?

The database covers FA and FB prefix serials. FC and FD units are less common Grundig variants; try entering them — if the serial exists it will return a code, otherwise the lookup will report not found.

The radio shows "SAFE" not "CODE" — what does that mean?

SAFE means the radio has had too many wrong code entries and has locked itself. Leave the ignition on ACC for one hour to reset the attempt counter. The radio will then show CODE and you can enter the correct PIN.

Where is the serial on a Ford Focus Mk1?

On the Ford Focus Mk1 (1998–2004) with a Grundig radio, the serial sticker is on the top surface of the radio chassis. Use two DIN radio removal tools inserted into the four holes on the face plate to release the unit.

Does this cover Grundig radios in French cars (Renault, Peugeot)?

Yes — Siemens VDO supplied identical Grundig-branded units to Renault and Peugeot. The FA/FB serial format is universal across all manufacturers.
